Band Booster Meeting Highlights from Feb 23, 2015

  • The Awards Banquet will be at the Civic Center on 5/11/2015.  Please save the date and plan on joining us for great night celebrating this year and all its accomplishments.  This year's banquet will feature an exciting new presentation.
  • Our February fundraisers were a success!
o   Quatros Night made about $300 in February.  We have more  Quatros Gift Cards worth $10 each available for purchase.  Contact Susan Pimentel or Carol Eaton Brandenburg to purchase some.   The cards cost $10 and are worth $10 at Quatros.  The Band makes $3 off of every $10 card sold.
o   Trivia Night was a great success, especially with the weather concerns and snow-days off leading up to the event.  The winners of the Trivia Contest were "Under the Radar", lead by CCHS' Mr. Rodvelt.  Instead of taking the $200 top prize, they generously donated it to the band. The band earned about $3300 altogether, including table fees, food auctions and sales, trivia game bonuses, prize raffles, and the Dead or Alive game.  Thanks to everyone who attended, donated prizes, and worked to make Trivia Night a success!
o   We will look into selling Gift Cards from Larry’s House of Cakes.
  • Band Booster officer elections will be held at the March meeting.    We passed the amendment to the by-laws allowing an officer to run again after 2 consecutive terms, as described in the Jan. summary, below.  We then took a vote to allow the President to run again.  The ballot for next month’s vote is:
o   President:  Carol Eaton Brandenburg
o   Vice President:  Kathie Rigney
o   Treasurer: Debbie Meador
o   Secretary: Amy Weber
At this time, the candidates are uncontested.  However, the nominating committee is still taking candidates, and anyone can be nominated from the floor as a write-in.  Contact webmaster@marchingterriers.com or president@marchingterriers.com if you are interested in serving as an officer in the 2015-16 school year.
  • The Finance Committee will present a budget proposal at the March meeting.  We will vote on it in April.
  • Student Accounts have been updated, but are still missing Kroger deposits, due to an error in mailing the check to us.  We are working on getting it reissued, and will update the accounts again as soon as we can.
  • In order to further safeguard the Band Booster account from possible embezzlement, changes to the deposits of fundraising funds were proposed and discussed.  We will vote on the changes at a future meeting.
  • Finally, Mr. Townsend reported that the Branson Trip is still on schedule and the students are learning the music for the performance.
