Carbondale and Carterville High Schools have been given a unique opportunity to host a guest ensemble at the beginning of the semester: the Luxembourg National Youth Wind Orchestra. We are collaborating with the SIU Orchestra Program in hosting these 58 musicians. The ensemble is comprised of young musicians ranging in age from 14 to 23. The group will play a concert in Shryock Auditorium on Wednesday night, September 2nd, in which both CCHS and CHS Bands will perform a standstill performance of their Fall 2015 marching shows.
26 of these Luxembourg students need a home from August 30th through Sept 3rd.
If you are interested in hosting these talented musicians and enjoying a cultural exchange for a few days please see this letter and interest form for more details. Most of these students can speak some English, and French and German.
Applications should be returned prior to August 19th to Mr. Townsend, email's in the letter.

Kroger's Community Rewards Program
Kroger sent us a reminder that our annual Kroger fundraiser starts again this month. This is an easy fundraiser for the band and doesn't cost you a dime, but requires a little effort up front to participate in. Here's what you need to sign-up with Kroger (a portion of the email sent to us):
---------- Forwarded message ----------
Subject: Kroger Community Rewards: August Re-Enrollment - #10102
...
August is the annual re-enrollment month for Community Rewards:
As the Administrator of this Community Rewards account, I wanted to remind you that in order for enrolled members to continue supporting your organization, they must re-enroll in Community Rewards sometime in August (August 1-31). They cannot re-enroll prior to August 1.
Supporters that do not re-enroll in August will drop from the program on September 1st until they do re-enroll.
Re-enroll at www.Kroger.com/communityrewards (CCHS Band Boosters)
Need Additional Support? In August, enrolled supporters that need help re-enrolling can call 1-800-KROGERS, Option #3, for assistance. Also, any new supporters can also call 1-800-KROGERS, Option #3, for assistance in enrolling the first time if needed.

How this works:
The Marching Terriers will receive a percentage of every dollar you spend at Kroger's if you swipe your Kroger card, are signed up with the Community Rewards program online, and you have chosen "CCHS Band Boosters". They just send us a lump sum check every quarter.
The Band Boosters would like to reward the students whose supporters are participating. We split the sum- 1/2 to the Band Boosters, 1/2 directly to the student accounts of those students whose supporters are participants. Because we receive a lump sum without additional information from Kroger,we ask that if you would like a particular student or students to get a share of the student portion, you give us some indication that you're currently signed up with the Community Rewards program and to whom you would like the student share to go. In plain English, we need a screen shot of the page that shows you signed up with Kroger, chose CCHS Band Boosters and the date of enrollment in an email with the student's name sent to president@marchingterriers.com. Alternately, have your student bring in a receipt from Kroger (no older than August 1, 2015) with the date and the Community Rewards printed at the bottom. A copy is fine. Please write the student's name on the receipt and put it in the Booster mailbox in the band room.
If you shop at Kroger, but don't want to worry about shares and such, please simply sign up with the Kroger Community Rewards. The Marching Terriers students will merrily benefit. General Band Booster funds are used to purchase equipment, provide water and refreshments, swag, and lower the costs of special events to make band more affordable for everyone. All support is gratefully accepted.

The VP replied with a helpful note:
Hi Everyone,
I just re-enrolled, and it was really easy.
I just clicked on the link from the email, signed in, indicated the CCHS band boosters, and hit the re-enroll button.
I was even able to print the confirmation page using my internet browser's print menu.
We will all want to show re-enrollment, so the Boosters know which students' band accounts get a portion of the money raised.
Hope to see you all next Monday night (8/17) at the August Band Booster meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the band room.

- The Awards Banquet, May 11th, at the Civic Center. The banquet went very well, a small profit ensured costs were covered. Thanks to 2 Domestic Divas for the fine food and drink. Thanks to the Kristiansen Family for the video presentations. Congratulations again to all of the graduating seniors!
- Concert videos and Senior Presentation videos are available for purchase. Email Carol Eaton-Brandenburg at president@marchingterriers.com.
- Christmas Tree Fundraiser: The Christmas Tree Lot Committee is looking for 4 new members. Parents of incoming Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are needed to share the work and carry on this popular fundraiser. Requires some work for about 2 months in the fall. Email Carol Eaton-Brandenburg at president@marchingterriers.com if you are willing to help.
- Ongoing Fundraisers:
Booster Business:
- 2-Click: Remember to use 2-Click Fundraising for your online purchases; the band gets a cut of the profits on your purchases, without additional cost to you. Budget-friendly and convenient orders from Amazon.com and Walmart's site to store can make your dollars earn more for your family!
- Kroger Cards: Kroger Cards have brought in over $3000 for the Boosters and students, with no additional costs or hassle to the program users. Instructions for registering your card are on our Fundraising Page. You can earn 2x Fuel Points this summer by signing up here. After register your card with the Community Rewards program, Email Carol Eaton-Brandenburg at president@marchingterriers.com to make sure your student gets their benefit.
- Quatro's $10 Gift Cards are still available for purchase. The program has brought in over $1300 for the 2014-15 school year, and the remaining cards are pure profit. Email Carol Eaton-Brandenburg at president@marchingterriers.com if you would like some.
- Larry's House of Cakes Cards are still available for purchase for $10. Each card is good for a dozen treats (cookies, cupcakes, or brownies). Email Carol Eaton-Brandenburg at president@marchingterriers.com if you would like some.
- Secretary: View minutes of the April meeting here.
- Treasurer: The Branson Trip was slightly over budget as the Swing-Around meal wasn't originally planned. Still, it was within $120 and there is money in the Booster's Band Trip budget to cover the added expense.
- Finance Committee and Annual Budget: The budget for 2015-16 was voted on and passed. The Finance Committee will meet again this month for an audit meeting.
- National Booster Club Training Council (NBCTC): Our membership has come though, and we are sending the check for the insurance this week.
- Band Camp: This will be Kathie Rigney's last year for organizing meals, snacks, and other Booster sponsored support for Band Camp. If you would like to help out, a little or a lot, Email Carol Eaton-Brandenburg at president@marchingterriers.com.
- Summer Booster Meeting: We will only have one meeting this summer, an Organizational meeting with Orientation information for parents and supporters that would like to be involved in the 2015-16 school year. The meeting will be on a Tuesday night during practice, the exact date and time TBA.
